How to use the Image Resizer

  1. Drop one image onto the upload area or click to browse from your device. Files above 50 MB are rejected immediately to protect browser memory.
  2. Your original image dimensions appear automatically in the Width and Height fields.
  3. Select a platform preset to jump straight to the exact dimensions for Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or standard web sizes, or type a custom width and height manually.
  4. Toggle the padlock button between the two inputs to lock or unlock the aspect ratio. When locked, adjusting one dimension automatically recalculates the other to prevent distortion.
  5. Choose an output format and, for JPG or WEBP, drag the quality slider to balance file size against sharpness. PNG is lossless.
  6. The resized preview updates automatically. Click Download resized image when you are satisfied with the result.

Platform presets explained

The preset library covers the most common export sizes for Instagram (Square, Portrait, Landscape, Story), YouTube (Thumbnail, Channel Banner), Twitter/X (Post, Header), Facebook (Post, Cover), LinkedIn (Post, Banner), Open Graph images, App Icons and HD video formats. Selecting a preset fills both dimension fields instantly and triggers the live preview, no extra clicks needed.

Aspect ratio lock

The padlock keeps width and height in the same proportions as the original image. It is enabled by default to prevent accidental stretching. Unlock it when you need to crop to a specific ratio, such as a widescreen banner or a square profile photo. Platform presets always set the exact target dimensions regardless of the lock state.

Privacy and temporary files

All processing runs inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server. All temporary image data is cleared when you close the tool or the tab, leaving no trace on your device.

Frequently asked questions

How do the social media presets work?

Each preset sets the exact pixel dimensions recommended by that platform. Selecting Instagram Square sets 1080 × 1080 pixels, YouTube Thumbnail sets 1280 × 720, and so on. After selecting a preset, the width and height fields update instantly and the resized preview refreshes automatically. You can then fine-tune the dimensions manually if needed.

What does the lock aspect ratio button do?

When the padlock is closed, changing the width automatically adjusts the height to keep the same proportions as the original image, and vice versa. This prevents stretching or squashing. When you unlock the padlock, you can enter any width and height independently, which is useful for platform presets that intentionally change the image to a specific shape such as a square or wide banner.

Which output format should I choose, JPG, PNG or WEBP?

Use JPG for photos and social media uploads where a small file size matters and slight compression is acceptable. Use PNG when you need a lossless result, such as screenshots, logos, or images with transparent backgrounds, PNG ignores the quality slider because it is always lossless. Use WEBP for the best balance of quality and file size on modern websites and browsers. To reduce file size further after resizing, use the Image Compressor.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The entire resize operation runs in your browser. Your image never leaves your device, is never stored on a server, and is never shared with any third party. All temporary data is cleared when you close the tool or the tab. Because processing is local, the upload speed of your internet connection does not affect the resize, and private photos never need to leave your device. Your data is never used to train AI models or improve machine learning systems.

Why does the file size change when I adjust the quality slider?

The quality slider controls how much the JPEG or WEBP encoder compresses the image data. A higher value means less compression and a larger, sharper file. A lower value produces a smaller file but with more visible compression artifacts. The slider has no effect on PNG output because PNG is always lossless. Reducing quality is useful when you need the resized image to stay under an upload size limit.

Does this tool add a watermark to my image?

No. The downloaded file is clean, no watermark, no logo, no branding overlay of any kind. The only changes are the new pixel dimensions and the output format you selected. The tool is completely free to use and adding a watermark is never required, not even for large images or repeat use.

What is the maximum size I can resize to?

The tool supports output dimensions up to 8000 × 8000 pixels, which covers print and high-resolution display requirements. Very large canvas sizes can use significant browser memory, so extremely large outputs may be slow on older or low-memory devices. For most social media and web use cases, outputs between 500 and 2560 pixels wide are recommended.
