How to use the Image Watermark
- Upload one image, use a JPG, PNG or WEBP file. The preview appears immediately inside the editor, and the original file stays on your device.
- Add text, type your watermark, choose a system font, then adjust size, opacity, color, outline, shadow and rotation until the preview is readable.
- Choose a pattern, use a single mark for clean branding, repeated grid for stronger coverage, or diagonal anti-theft when the image should be harder to crop or reuse.
- Add a logo if needed, transparent PNG logos usually give the cleanest result, but JPG and WEBP logo files are accepted too.
- Select the export format, choose PNG, JPG or WEBP. Use the quality slider for JPG and WEBP when you need a smaller file for websites or social media.
- Download the final image, the result is created from the full-resolution original, not from the smaller on-screen preview.
Recommended settings
For public previews, start with the diagonal anti-theft preset, 15-25% opacity, medium spacing and a simple bold font. For brand images, use a single logo in the bottom right with 60-80% opacity so the mark stays visible without covering the main subject.
Export tips
Use PNG for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges. Use JPG for photos when compatibility matters. Use WEBP when you want a smaller web-ready file. The download is generated from the original resolution, so the preview size does not reduce export quality.
Choosing a watermark pattern
Use a single corner mark when the image is mainly for branding and you want the subject to stay clean. Use a repeated grid when the image may be reposted, cropped or shared outside your site. Use the diagonal anti-theft option for previews, paid assets or client proofs where removal should be inconvenient. A subtle watermark is often better than an opaque one because viewers can still inspect the image while the ownership signal remains visible across the frame.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the watermark added in my browser?
Yes. The image and watermark are processed entirely in your browser with the Canvas API. Your photo is not uploaded to PureTools, sent to a server, stored in a database, or shared with any third party. Temporary Blob URLs are used only inside the current tab and are revoked when you clear the image or leave the page. Your data is never used to train AI models or improve machine learning systems.
What makes the anti-theft watermark useful?
The anti-theft preset repeats your text diagonally across the image with low opacity. A single corner watermark is easy to crop out, but a repeated diagonal pattern makes unauthorized reuse harder while keeping the original image visible. You can still adjust opacity, spacing, size and rotation to make the mark subtle or more visible depending on where the image will be posted.
Can I use my own logo as a watermark?
Yes. You can upload a JPG, PNG or WEBP logo file and place it over the main image. The logo stays local in browser memory, just like the main photo. PNG logos with transparent backgrounds usually work best because they sit cleanly on top of photos, product shots, screenshots and social media graphics without needing a solid box behind them.
Which output formats are supported?
The watermark page exports JPG, PNG and WEBP. PNG is best when you need lossless output or transparency-friendly graphics, JPG is widely compatible and usually good for photographs, and WEBP often gives smaller web-ready files. The quality slider applies to JPG and WEBP exports so you can balance visual detail and file size before downloading. To reduce file size further after watermarking, use the Image Compressor.
Can I customize fonts and text style?
Yes. The page uses system fonts instead of loading external font libraries, keeping it fast and lightweight. You can choose fonts such as Arial, Verdana, Georgia, Times New Roman, Courier New, Trebuchet MS and Impact, then adjust size, opacity, color, bold, italic, outline, shadow, rotation and spacing for repeated watermark patterns.
Will PureTools add its own watermark?
No. The only watermark added is the one you create. PureTools does not insert a logo, brand mark, hidden overlay or promotional text into your export. The page is free with no account and no upgrade wall. If you leave the watermark text empty and do not add a logo, the export is simply the original image re-encoded in the chosen output format.
What happens when I close the tab?
When you close the tab, your image data disappears from browser memory. PureTools stores only lightweight tool preferences such as your last selected font, opacity or output format in sessionStorage for the current tab. It never stores image files, logo files, clipboard content, personal data or long-term editing history in localStorage, cookies or a server.
